| Article: Know the Meaning Behind Some Health Symptoms Eyes If the whites of your eyes appear gray, it’s most likely an effect of the aging process which can make the whites turn grayer. The sclera (whites of your eyes) thins eventually that is why the deep vascular tissue just beneath shows through. Although there are a few serious conditions that can make your whites look grayish, such as rheumatoid arthritis and brittle bone syndrome.
